Facts about the Arctic Church

The Arctic Church is an independent free-evangelical church linked to the Norwegian Baptist Union. The church was started as an outpost church to the North Cape Baptist Church in February 2003, by Birger Wroldsen and Walter Loklingholm who also settled in Hammerfest at that time. Birger and Kjersti Wroldsen moved to Hammerfest with their children September 2004 and as a couple they?ve been responsible for the church. The church was made into an independent church October 2004, and we rent premises from the Advent Church in Hammerfest and have good arrangements on how to utilize the church building.

For the most the church consist of new Christians who?s been saved here, and by Gods grace we constantly see new people becoming believers of Jesus Christ. Our main service is Saturday evenings and we have a family service on Sundays. In the week we also hold prayer meetings and home gatherings for men and women.

VISON

Being a house of prayer

To be a church who makes prayer its highest calling and puts worshipping Jesus Christ in its centre. We are called to pray and work for the advancement of God?s Kingdom all around the world but especially in Hammerfest, Finnmark and the Cap of the North.

A spiritual hospital

We are called to be a spiritual hospital where people get saved, healed, delivered and restored. The gospel is the good news to all men today and it also has the power to save, heal, deliver and restore all people.

Luke 4:18-19

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering sight to the blind, to liberate those who are bruised, to proclaim the year of the Lord?s favour.
